The Urban Allstar Rally

Posted - 30 June 2011 by Lauren Nicholson

The much anticipated Urban Media All stars rally finally kicked off today after months of preparation. 13 teams lined up at the start line outside Urban Media headquarters to begin their 2000 mile trip across Europe, all in aid of charity.

All of the participating teams purchased their means of transportation for less than £200 (and a penny) and are put the final preparations to their cars and costumes over the last few weeks. Taking a look at 2010’s gallery this year’s participants had to do a lot if they were going to match the likes of the Cookie Monster and Lightening McQueen from last year.

If you are not yet aware of this amazing event (some might say the charity event of the year) the Urban Media All star Rally, in simple terms, is where participating teams are sponsored to purchase a car and then drive it 2000 miles across Europe, competing in challenges along the way. It is defiantly one of the weirdest and wackiest methods of fundraising I have ever heard of, I am sure you would agree. But that is not all, the cars were also decorated and the teams were in fancy dress. Yes, it is off the scale genius and will be fun for all involved. But the real winners are the deserving charities, where 100% of the money goes. Last year’s teams managed to raise over £10,000 for both local and national causes.

Although it is now too late to enter, it is never too late to donate! Check out, http://www.urbanallstarrally.co.uk for the official countdown timer and more information about the list of teams (and their charities) and dig deep.
